Common, living at low water amongst weed on boulder shores and in the shallow sublittoral. Feeds on hydroids epifaunal on kelps, such as Obelia spp. Recorded from Loch Maddy by McIntosh (1866). The results of recent genetic analysis have separated two other Eubranchus which occur in the NE Atlantic, E. linensis and E. viriola. A third species, Amphorina andra is currently consider by WoRMS to be a synonym of E. viriola, pending further investigation. The taxonomic status of the records given here is unknown and should therefore be considered to be aggregate. |
