Living on the Hebridean Slope. Fragments found in grab samples west of the Stanton Banks (BGS). Recorded from Loch Maddy by McIntosh (1866), the Little Minch (Jeffreys, 1881b) and Loch Alsh (Winckworth, 1923, who later (Smith & Heppell, 1991) considered these specimens probably to be a variety of Abra alba). Also obtained from the Clyde by Marshall. All inshore records, unless fossil material, likely to be Abra alba.
