Generally occurs in sheltered silty conditions. Several records from the Larne Lough area 1973 (M Brisco); 1975 (R Anderson); 2003 (Department of Agriculture, Environment & Rural Affairs, NI) unlikely record. Also a shell found in Qweedore Bay, Co Donegal in 1970 (M Brisco). Old records from the Clyde, rare. Found in Lough Swilly by Hart (1892).
