Widespread, living on Fucus serratus, in Laminaria spp. holdfasts, on fronds of sublittoral algae and in maerl and muddy shell sand. Also on bedrock with sponges in clean water (70-80m) outside our area. Detritus feeder. Dead shells widespread. Many old records.
