One living specimen taken by grab in Outer Loch Carron (BGS) (Smith, 1985c) and another on the shelf edge west of Barra (BGS). Probably widespread and quite common living on the shelf edge and Hebrides Slope down to at least 1500m (SAMS). Feeds on detritus. Dead shells are widespread but sparse in shell gravel offshore. They are very fragile and probably break up rapidly. Few old records, mostly from the Clyde (Jeffreys, 1868 and Marshall, 1897a). |
