Common, living in gravel, clean coarse sand and gravel with similar distribution to Astarte elliptica. It may be living very adjacent but prefers less muddy conditions and some current flow. Locally numerous on the middle shore in gravel with salt water run-off. Dead shells widespread. Old records from the Clyde.
