Widespread, common 5m downwards, extends to about 300m, living on rock, large shells, gravel, etc. Also common at low water amongst the roots of Corallina officinalis on gravel in Clachan Sound (Smith & Nunn, 1985, 1992) and in nearby localities. Probably under-recorded. Carnivorous, but details of feeding habits not known. Dead shells common, deeper. Many old records. |
