Living in 64m on Shiants East Bank in 1973, off Barra and west of Barra in 1985 (D W McKay). Recorded alive off Stornoway by Forbes (1851), between the Butt of Lewis and St Kilda in 200m and off Loch Boisdale in 140m by Marshall (1911c). One dead shell found on the Hebrides Slope in 1000m in 1985. Lives down to at least this depth. Predatory and carrion feeder. Probably rare in the Minch. Records of dead shells (without opercula) could be Buccinum undatum. |
