The specimen recorded from Lewis (Smith, 1983b) is an error for Onoba aculeus. Found living on Ballantrae Bank in 1977 (D W McKay). One dead shell found off Oban in 2003. Dredged in shallow water off Barra (Forrest, Waterston & Watson, 1936). There are a number of older records (Chaster, 1897c; Marshall, 1893, 1898b). Most records are likely to be in error for Onoba spp. and all specimens require to be checked.
