Widespread, common but far less so than Buccinum undatum or Neptunea antiqua, most common living in the south of the area, especially the Clyde, on mixed bottoms from shallow depths to below about 1000m. Specimen formerly identified as Colus glaber found living on the slope west of the Hebrides Terrace in about 700m. Carnivore and carrion feeder. Dead shells widespread. Most old records are from the Clyde. |
