Widespread, fairly common, living amongst small algae at low water. Also recorded from muddy gravel offshore. Recorded from Skye (Jeffreys, 1866) and the shores of the Clyde by most workers. Dead shells on the Hebrides Terrace. The variety Utriculus tomlinianus Marshall, 1912 was described from Loch Ryan, taken in 50m. If Diaphana expansa (synonymised by WoRMS) is included here, the distribution is out to the Hebridean Slope in deep water, i.e. very different from the usual inshore and nearshore records.. |
