Several specimens, living on Fucus serratus in sheltered waters in Loch Kishorn in April 1990. Several occurrences in the Islay area (common), Loch Sween and Colonsay (common). These records perhaps indicate adventitious rather than permanent populations. The species is abundant living on littoral algae in sheltered and partly sheltered waters in Donegal, rare east of Malin Head. Detritus feeder. Allen (1962) quoting old records, indicated that it was scarce in the Clyde. Recorded by Marshall (1916b) from Loch Fyne, Skipness and Loch Ryan.
