Figured: S M Smith
Length: 170 mm

This species has not been recognised in Britain as anything other than a variety of Ensis siliqua. Examination of specimens in Smith's collection indicates that it may be the dominant species in the more exposed locations on the west coast of the Outer Hebrides where it, rather than Ensis siliqua, has been found cast-up. Was recorded living at Dounhill in 1969 (R Anderson), specimen not examined.
