Widespread but sparse, usually living on Griffithsia corallinoides or Zostera marina from low water to 10m. Feeds on algae. Also recorded from East Loch Tarbert (Brook & Scott, 1886) and from Cumbrae by Grieve (1861) and others. The only British mollusc identifiable by its pungent smell alone which is released when the animal is disturbed. |
