Figured: S M Smith
Height: 4 mm

Recorded living in the brackish lochs of the Uists (Kerney, 1976; Waterston, 1968; Waterston & Lyster, 1979). Also in the Firth of Lorn and the Clyde (Kerney, 1997). All specimens recently examined have been found to be Ventrosia ventrosa (Roy Anderson, pers. comm.). Therefore the presence of the species in our area, especially in the Firth of Lorn, is in doubt. The supposed locality from the Clyde has been examined. There are two lagoons, one totally fresh, an appendix off a river, and the other more or less fully marine. The first only contained Potamopyrgus antipodarum, the second Onoba aculeus. Hydrobia acuta var. neglecta occurs in the most and least saline conditions. Probably a detritus feeder. Found in a number of brackish lochs in the Outer Hebrides in 2016, National Museums of Scotland.
