Living in muddy shell gravel on stones and on boulders from just below low water to below 100m. Probably common on bedrock, under-recorded. Dead shells not uncommon offshore. The distribution of records with emphasis on the north may be an artifact reflecting recording effort. There are many old records, particularly from the Clyde. |
