Common, locally abundant, living and feeding on algae, especially reds and Zostera marina, from mid tide level to the shallow sublittoral. Egg masses abundant in spring on many algae including Laminaria spp. and fucoids, leading to large swarms of hatchlings in May. Dead shells widespread. Many old records. |
