This is a higher-spired ecotype, differing little in its biochemistry from Littorina obtusata. Most named specimens in collections from the Outer Hebrides have been found to be Littorina fabalis subsp., but specimens found in Loch Maddy in 1994 are a variety of Littorina obtusata, less extreme than aestuarii. |
