Very common living and feeding on intertidal algae especially Ascophyllum nodosum. Because this is its preferred habitat, it is more restricted than Littorina fabalis, almost absent from exposed sites and equally from very sheltered ones where Ascophyllum nodosum is lacking. Many dead shells. Old records cannot be included because they do not recognise Littorina fabalis and Littorina obtusata as separate species. For the same reason, a number of recent records cannot be used.
