Very common and locally abundant, living under boulders and on algae, on rocky shores from mid-tide to 20m, usually in clean water. Much commoner in autumn. It eats much detrital material as well as algae, which are probably its chief food in clean waters. Dead shells common in shell sand. Many old records. |
