Several specimens found living in maerl in Loch Torridon in 1975 (SOAFD). One dead shell found offshore in muddy shell sand east of Skye in 1980. Dredged living from mud overlaid by Phyllophora crispa off Skye, in 10m, 1980 (Dipper, 1981c, Smith, 1983c, as Margarites striatus var. laevior). Also found in shell gravel off Oban in 1995. Other records are vague 'north of Scotland and the Hebrides, 1-60m'(MacMillan, 1967, p.27); 'dredged on only a few occasions off the west coast of Scotland (Greenock, Skye, Outer Hebrides). Recent records are lacking' (Fretter & Graham, 1977, p. 45).
