Sporadic, living under boulders at low water but generally in shallow water, particularly in tidal current areas in the sea lochs. Found on red algae epifaunal on Laminaria spp., also amongst shell gravel. Food as for Margarites helicinus. Dead shells rare. There are few old records, including Jeffreys (1865 and 1866) and a specimen in the Natural History Museum, London from 1856 (as Margarita carnea). |
