Recorded from Loch Duich by Winckworth (1923) and Loch Nevis in 1984 (Breen et. al., 1986). 'One specimen taken in Upper Loch Fyne, 60-65 fathoms, not uncommon in Loch Etive in 70 fathoms, also taken in deep water in the Firth of Lorn and in the deepest part of Loch Duich' (Chumley, 1918). Also found in Kilbrennan Sound (Fulton, 1898), and there is an old record from Loch Etive. Possibly found in the North Channel in 2001 by Department of Agriculture, Environment & Rural Affairs (NI), but record not confirmed.
