There is an unconfirmed record from Loch Duich (Connor, 1989). Found living in Loch Goil by Gyngell in 1910 (specimens in Leiden Museum examined by Smith). Found in Lamlash Bay (Bryce, 1872) and off Cumbrae and in Loch Fyne. Allen (1962, p.50) was 'doubtful whether N. hanleyi occurs in the Clyde. It was not taken during 1949-52 when a careful search was made for it. The above records probably refer to N. nucleus or N. turgida. Since confirmed from the Clyde.
