Widespread living in the Firth of Lorn, 20-100m in muddy gravel or silt. Living on a calcareous concretion trawled from the Passage of Tiree, 120m in 1981 (Smith, 1981a, 1983a). Also dredged living from muddy shell gravel, 20-25m off Luing in 1983 (Smith, 1984a) and off Oban in 1993. Feeds on Astropecten irregularis. Dead shells occasionally found. Jeffreys (1867) considered it locally plentiful in the Clyde and the Hebrides. |
