Common living under boulders in detritus on the upper shore and on intertidal algae from the upper shore to low water. Extends into brackish waters. Seldom sublittoral, prefers clean water. Often confused with Onoba semicostata, especially as much of the literature does not make useful distinctions between the two. The degree of ribbing and shape of shell is of less importance than the size of the protoconch, much bigger in this species. It should be noted that the habitat is also usually distinct. |
