| Common, locally numerous, but perhaps becoming less so, from low water to well offshore. Living on sand, gravel and mud, heavily trawled and dived for. Spat intermittently abundant on the fronds of Laminaria spp. in August and September. Some mariculture. Dead shells common. Many old records. |
