| Widespread and sporadic, taken alive from mixed stone, gravel and mud substrates, 10m to at least 1000m. Probably commoner than records indicate. May feed on sponges and detritus. Dead shells not uncommon offshore, probably persistent in shell gravel. Many old records. |
