Abundant, living on algae from mid-tide to about 10m, and by far the commonest rissoid in Scotland. Easily separated from Rissoa parva of which it is considered by some to be a variety (not accepted by WoRMS as separate from Rissoa parva), but not so easily distinguished from Pusillina sarsi. Juveniles easily confused with Pusillina inconspicua. Usually more abundant than Rissoa parva on Fucus serratus and apparently extending into more sheltered waters. Feeds on diatoms, detritus, etc. on algae. Dead shells abundant, widespread. Many old records.
