Living on intertidal algae in Donegal. Specimens intermediate between Rissoa lilacina and Rissoa rufilabrum have been obtained from the north coast of Donegal (Nunn & Smith, 1987). The further west and south around Ireland the more like Rissoa lilacina s.s. they become. Recorded living in Loch Eil (Pearson, 1971) and at Millport (Allen, 1962), but these are considered to have been subspecies porifera or rufilabrum. All older Scottish records of Rissoa lilacina are placed in the latter. Feeds on diatoms, detritus, etc. on algae. |
