Common to abundant, living on algae, especially reds, from near low water mark downwards to at least 70m, usually replacing Rissoa interrupta sublittorally. Food similar. Dead shells in shell sand (washed up from sublittoral) in larger proportion relative to Rissoa interrupta than is found in shore populations. Many records not made by the present authors likely to include Rissoa interrupta. Many old records.
