Found living in Loch Roag, Lewis in 1982 (Dipper, 1983, Smith, 1983b), Loch Sween in 1984 (Smith, 1987d), Loch Creran in 1993 and off Arran (Smith, 1984b). Many specimens obtained by Stephen (1944). Probably still a common species, considerably under-recorded and known to be confused by divers with Rossia macrosoma. Small specimens may have been recorded as Sepiola atlantica.
