Sporadic, widespread, living on small intertidal algae and amongst shell gravel to 15m, frequently in current areas. Seems to be becoming commoner. Dead shells have been found occasionally. This species has been confused with juvenile Margarites helicinus, therefore records are restricted to those of checked specimens. Several old records from the Clyde and off Rathlin (Chaster, 1897). |
