Length: 10 mm

Common living on the shore on encrusting coralline algae, and in the infralittoral fringe in maerl and other corallines. Very common living inshore and offshore on maerl and on dead shells with boring red algae, also offshore on shell gravel at greater depth. Chief food considered to be coralline algae, but as it is common below the photic zone it must also eat other material. Dead shells very common in shell sand. Many old records.
