Common, living on red algae at low water and inshore. Most numerous in the south, particularly Ireland. Apparently absent from much of Skye and the northern mainland, but dead shells occasionally found in this area. Feeds on algae, the adnate bacteria and detritus. Dead shells widespread. Many old records. |
