Single specimens living on the Hebrides Terrace. Living specimens seen from this area have come from much greater depth, although it has been found alive on Porcupine Bank in 230m. Marshall (1910) dredged up a young specimen from 144m in the Minch. Recorded living in Loch Eil (Pearson, 1970) and off the north end of Arran on clean gravel in 28-34m (Allen, 1962). These two records require confirmation.
