All checked specimens except those from Moonen Bay, Skye (BGS, no date, det. Aartsen)) and Mulroy Bay in 1995 have proved to be Turbonilla rufescens. Recorded living from Oban (Gardiner, 1952), certainly in error for Turbonilla rufescens, and from Skye (Jeffreys, 1866). Feeds on hydroids. Pyrgiscus jeffreysii is usually regarded as a southern species (Aartsen, pers. comm.). |
