Zostera marina (Linnaeus, 1758) Eel grass

The stand of Zostera marina which existed in the Goleen has disappeared (Renouf, 1934; Whelan, 1986). Zostera marina is present in Barloge Creek and Southern's Bay.

Zostera noltii Hornemann [Zostera nana Roth] Dwarf eel grass
‘meadows occupy the greater part of the floor of the southern half of the Goleen. These, however, are composed of Z. nana Roth.’ (Renouf, 1931d). Not recorded subsequently.
